Overview
Thinking Pink Foundation Sierra Leone is looking for a committed, organised and community-minded Programme Coordinator to support the delivery of its breast cancer awareness, screening, patient-support, advocacy and outreach activities.
This is a hands-on coordination role suited to someone who is passionate about women’s health, public health education, community service and improving access to care. The role offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in programme implementation, stakeholder engagement, patient-support coordination, field activity planning, volunteer coordination, documentation and reporting within a mission-driven health-focused organisation.
This position is best suited to an emerging or early-mid career professional who is motivated by impact, learning and service, and who is comfortable supporting both office-based coordination and field-level programme delivery.
Role Purpose
The Programme Coordinator will support the planning, coordination, implementation, documentation and follow-up of Thinking Pink Foundation’s programme activities. Working under the supervision of the CEO, the role will help ensure that awareness sessions, screening activities, patient-support initiatives, community engagements, volunteer activities and partner collaborations are well organised, properly documented and delivered in line with the Foundation’s mission.
The postholder will work closely with healthcare providers, volunteers, community stakeholders, partners and Foundation staff to support smooth programme delivery and strengthen the quality, reach and consistency of services.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination and Implementation
- Support the day-to-day coordination of Foundation programmes, including awareness campaigns, screening activities, outreach events, patient-support initiatives and advocacy-related activities.
- Assist with the preparation of activity plans, schedules, field logistics, attendance records, materials and follow-up actions.
- Coordinate with staff, volunteers, healthcare workers, community leaders and partners to ensure activities are delivered effectively.
- Support the CEO in tracking programme priorities, deadlines, activities and implementation progress.
- Help identify practical challenges affecting programme delivery and propose simple, workable solutions.
Patient Care Pathway Support
- Coordinate patient access to screening, diagnostic, treatment, and support services through appropriate points of care.
- Work closely with the Nurse-in-Charge and healthcare providers to plan and support optimal patient care.
- Monitor patient flow and identify ways to reduce delays and improve timely access to services.
- Support patient, family, and staff planning activities to improve the overall care experience.
Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain professional working relationships with healthcare providers, hospitals, community leaders, local authorities, civil society partners and other relevant stakeholders.
- Support the CEO in preparing for meetings, partner engagements and stakeholder follow-up.
- Represent the Foundation appropriately in community and partner engagements when delegated.
- Document key issues, commitments and follow-up actions from meetings or field engagements.
Quality Improvement and Service Development
- Lead and support quality improvement initiatives across Foundation programs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate patient education programs to promote quality and appropriate care.
- Support the refinement of service models, procedures, and systems to ensure sustainable, cost-effective, and impactful service delivery.
- Participate in data collection, research and evidence-based learning to improve patient care and program outcomes.
Staff Leadership and Capacity Building
- Provide leadership and support to Foundation staff, promoting teamwork, learning, and accountability.
- Support staff development, training, education, and team-building initiatives.
- Facilitate training and engagement with Ministry of Health primary healthcare providers and other service providers.
- Create an environment where staff learning and professional development are encouraged.
Reporting, Planning, and Administration
- Prepare and submit monthly reports, including progress updates, achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Foundation strategic plan and collaborative goals.
- Work with service providers and staff to resolve operational issues, review staffing needs, and improve program performance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of breast cancer treatment, care standards, and relevant healthcare developments.
Qualifications and Experience
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in in public health, project management, business administration, social sciences or a related field.
- At least 2 years’ experience in programme coordination, preferably in health programmes, community outreach or similar.
- Experience supporting community activities, awareness campaigns, screening events, health education or field outreach.
- Proven ability to use Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Excellent English and Krio communication skills.
- Good writing, documentation and basic data-management skills.
- A strong interest in women’s health, cancer awareness, early detection and community service.
