The role serves as the key local finance contact and is expected to identify, document, and escalate control exceptions, unusual transactions, and compliance risks promptly.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile the full accounting cycle including accounts receivable, accounts payable, cashbook, bank transactions, journal processing, invoice review, and month-end supporting schedules.

  • Lead the local month-end close checklist, support year-end reporting and audits, and maintain audit-ready files, schedules, and supporting documentation at all times.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and concise commentary for the Management/CEO.
  • Prepare and/or coordinate statutory filings and remittances including GST, payroll tax/PAYE, withholding taxes where applicable, NASSIT contributions, and other required finance compliance submissions.
  • Prepare weekly cash and bank position updates, including expected inflows, critical payments due, and unresolved banking issues.
  • Prepare and maintain an approval trail for all payments released.
  • Review receivables and payables aging, follow up overdue or unusual items, and escalate high-risk balances promptly.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, accruals, prepayments, and other key schedules required for accurate reporting.
  • Act as a key financial liaison with TSL main principal and stakeholder MultiChoice.
  • Act as the primary local finance liaison with banks, auditors, tax authorities, payroll/statutory bodies, and key vendors on routine finance matters.
  • Perform other reasonable finance duties assigned by management, provided they do not compromise segregation of duties or required financial controls.

Internal Controls, governance and escalation

  • Enforce finance policies, documentation standards, and approval requirements for all transactions.

  • Ensure no single individual controls transaction initiation, approval, payment release, and reconciliation for the same activity stream.

  • Identify and escalate suspected fraud, unsupported payments, duplicate or unusual transactions, payroll anomalies, and policy breaches immediately.

  • Maintain orderly digital and physical filing so key documents can be retrieved quickly for management review or audit.

  • Maintain handover and current process files so finance operations remain controlled during absences or staffing changes.
