Role purpose
The Warehouse Officer is responsible for the day-to-day physical handling of cocoa and cashew in the Freetown warehouse. The role covers receiving, stacking, care of stock, supervision of day workers, stock checks, and dispatch/loading support for export.
Key duties
- Receive stock against approved dispatch or delivery documents.
- Count bags and check stock on arrival.
- Stack goods correctly by set criteria.
- Keep the warehouse clean, dry, secure and ready for inspection/loading.
- Supervise casual labour during unloading, re-bagging, turning, cleaning and loading.
- Support container stuffing and export dispatch preparation.
- Maintain daily physical stock sheets and reconcile with the warehouse supervisor.
- Report losses, damage, shortage, infestation or security issues immediately.
- Ensure only authorised persons enter the warehouse.
Requirements
- WASSCE, certificate or diploma.
- 2 years’ experience in warehouse work, commodity storage, storekeeping or logistics.
- Able to supervise loaders and work long hours when stock arrives or containers are loaded.
- Good counting skills and attention to detail.
- Physically fit and comfortable in a warehouse environment.
- Commodity experience is preferred.
