Key Purpose:

The Field Officer supports the company’s buying operations in Kenema by visiting farmers, and cooperatives, checking available stock, carrying out basic quality checks, preparing simple buying documents, and coordinating delivery to the warehouse. The job is practical and field-based, not office-based.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Visit suppliers and buying points regularly in Kenema and nearby regions.
  • Confirm that reported stock is physically available before purchase or collection.
  • Negotiate purchases within approved company prices.
  • Carry out basic quality checks on cocoa and cashew before buying or evacuation.
  • Ensure beans/nuts are properly bagged, labelled and separated by supplier/lot and certification status where relevant.
  • Prepare/dispatch purchase notes, delivery notes and simple field reports.
  • Follow up suppliers who received advances or made delivery promises.
  • Coordinate with logistics/warehouse team so stock is moved on time.
  • Share market information on prices, competition and supply availability.

 

Requirements 

  • WASSCE, certificate, diploma. Experience can replace formal education.
  • 1–3 years in cocoa/cashew buying, field sourcing, agri-trade, extension or cooperative work.
  • Able to travel often and spend most of the week in the field.
  • Basic numeracy and ability to complete forms accurately.
  • Can use WhatsApp and simple Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Mende, Krio and English preferred.
  • Motorcycle riding experience is an advantage.
