Key purpose  

The Business Transformation and Development Manager will play a central role in shaping and driving EcoMed’s expansion strategy across Sierra Leone. The role holder will work closely with senior leadership to articulate and translate strategic priorities into practical, well-coordinated implementation plans, ensuring that growth initiatives are delivered in a structured, credible, and sustainable manner. 

The role combines strategic planning, implementation oversight, quality assurance, stakeholder engagement, and operational coordination. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of business transformation initiatives while ensuring that any expansion, service improvement, or operational change is aligned with EcoMed’s mission, quality standards, regulatory obligations, and reputation as a trusted provider in the medical diagnostics sector. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic Planning and Business Transformation  

  • Support senior leadership in developing, refining, and implementing EcoMed’s business transformation and growth priorities. 
  • Translating these objectives into clear workplans, implementation roadmaps, milestones, and performance indicators. 
  • Conduct business analysis, market review, and feasibility assessments to inform decisionmaking on growth and service development opportunities. 
  • Prepare business cases, concept notes, implementation plans, and management briefings for proposed initiatives. 
  • Ensure that transformation initiatives are practical, properly sequenced, financially informed, and aligned with EcoMed’s institutional goals. 
  • Monitor sector trends, client needs, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics to support informed strategic planning. 

 

Implementation and Delivery Oversight  

  • Lead the coordination and implementation of approved business development, transformation, and service improvement initiatives. 
  • Establish implementation frameworks, timelines, reporting tools, and accountability mechanisms to track progress. 
  • Coordinate across departments to ensure that people, systems, infrastructure, budgets, and operational requirements are aligned before new initiatives are launched. 
  • Identify implementation risks, bottlenecks, resource gaps, and dependencies, and propose timely corrective actions. 
  • Ensure that initiatives move beyond planning into effective execution, with clear ownership and measurable outputs. 
  • Provide regular progress updates to senior leadership on implementation status, risks, achievements, and decisions required. 

 

Quality Assurance, Standards and Service Credibility  

  • Ensure that growth and transformation initiatives are designed and implemented in line with applicable health regulations, laboratory standards, internal policies, and quality expectations. 
  • Work with relevant technical and operational teams to ensure that service development maintains EcoMed’s standards for accuracy, reliability, safety, confidentiality, and client trust. 
  • Support the development of quality assurance checks, readiness reviews, and performance monitoring mechanisms for new or improved services. 
  • Ensure that any operational expansion or service change strengthens, rather than dilutes, EcoMed’s reputation and credibility. 
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, compliance, and service excellence across business transformation activities. 

 

Operational Readiness and Change Coordination 

  • Ensure that growth and transformation initiatives are designed and implemented in line with applicable health regulations, laboratory standards, internal policies, and quality expectations. 
  • Work with relevant technical and operational teams to ensure that service development maintains EcoMed’s standards for accuracy, reliability, safety, confidentiality, and client trust. 
  • Support the development of quality assurance checks, readiness reviews, and performance monitoring mechanisms for new or improved services. 
  • Ensure that any operational expansion or service change strengthens, rather than dilutes, EcoMed’s reputation and credibility.

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management 

  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with relevant government bodies, healthcare institutions, development partners, corporate clients, professional associations, and other sector stakeholders. 
  • Represent EcoMed professionally in discussions related to diagnostics, healthcare service improvement, partnerships, and institutional growth. 
  • Identify and assess partnership opportunities that support EcoMed’s mission, credibility, and long-term sustainability. 
  • Support the preparation of proposals, partnership concepts, presentations, and stakeholder communication materials. 
  • Ensure that external engagement is consistent, professional, and aligned with EcoMed’s brand  and strategic positioning. 

 

Business Analysis, Reporting and Performance Monitoring  

  • Develop tools and dashboards to monitor progress against transformation, growth, and service improvement objectives. 
  • Analyse operational, financial, client, and market information to support evidence-based decision-making. 
  • Prepare reports for senior leadership on business performance, implementation progress, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions. 
  • Support post-implementation reviews to assess effectiveness, lessons learned, quality implications, and areas for improvement. 
  • Maintain clear documentation of plans, approvals, implementation decisions, and progress updates. 

 

Innovation and Continuous Improvement 

  • Identify practical opportunities to improve EcoMed’s services, systems, client experience, operational efficiency, and institutional effectiveness. 
  • Assess new ideas, tools, partnerships, and service approaches in a structured manner before recommending implementation. 
  • Promote innovation that is realistic, evidence-based, financially viable, and aligned with EcoMed’s quality and reputational standards. 
  • Support a culture of learning, adaptability, and continuous improvement across the organisation.

 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • A minimum 7–10 years of experience in business transformation, strategic management, operational development, healthcare management, diagnostics, medical laboratory services, or a related sector. 
  • Proven experience translating strategy into practical implementation plans and delivering projects from concept to execution. 
  • Strong understanding of healthcare, diagnostics, medical services, or regulated service environments. 
  • Experience in business analysis, feasibility assessment, project management, stakeholder engagement, and performance monitoring. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior leadership and coordinate across technical and operational teams. 
  • Knowledge of Sierra Leone’s health sector, regulatory environment, and institutional landscape would be an advantage. 
  • Experience supporting organisational growth, service improvement, operational expansion, or change management would be highly desirable. 
  • Fluency in English is required.
