Overview

Broad Engineering & Construction (SL) was registered on the 3rd of August 2010 and incorporated on the 16th of August 2016. It is a fully owned Sierra Leonean company that prides itself in delivering high quality services through its people.

The company has undertaken wide range of engineering projects including the construction and rehabilitation of schools, hospitals/health facilities, hotels, roads, bridges and culverts, boreholes, private accommodation, road marking etc. The company is also in the business rental of construction equipment and earth moving machines, manufacture blocks of different types and sizes, and different mix of concretes from their block making facilities located at Sussex and concrete batching plant located at Murray Town. Their client portfolio includes government agencies, private sector, other agencies within and outside of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

 

Role Purpose

Broad Engineering & Construction (SL) Limited is seeking a capable, organised, and hands-on Warehouse Manager to lead warehouse operations across their construction and solar energy stores. This is a key operational role for someone who can bring structure, discipline, accountability, and strong stock control to a busy warehouse environment. The ideal candidate must have experience in multi-channel store environments, knowledge of solar equipment and construction materials, and a proven track record in leadership, process optimisation, safety and compliance.

 

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations and Stock Control

  • Manage daily warehouse operations across construction and solar energy stores.
  • Oversee accurate receiving, storage, issuing, transfer, return, and dispatch of materials and equipment.
  • Maintain strong stock control for construction materials, solar panels, inverters, batteries, cables, racking, tools, equipment, and accessories.
  • Lead regular stock counts, reconciliations, and investigation of stock variances.
  • Monitor stock levels, damaged items, shortages, slow-moving stock, and reorder requirements.
  • Improve warehouse layout, labelling, storage systems, and material organisation for efficiency and safety.

Internal Controls and Audit Systems

  • Strengthen warehouse controls for stock movement, approvals, documentation, and accountability.
  • Ensure all stock transactions are properly authorised, recorded, checked, and filed.
  • Maintain complete and accurate warehouse records, including goods received notes, delivery notes, issue forms, transfer records, return records, and dispatch records.
  • Identify control gaps, stock losses, unauthorised movements, and process weaknesses, and recommend practical improvements.
  • Support audit readiness by keeping warehouse records current, accurate, and easy to verify.

SOP Implementation and Process Improvement

  • Review existing warehouse SOPs and identify areas requiring clarification, strengthening or updating.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of approved procedures across receiving, storage, issuing, transfers, returns, dispatch, stock counts and access control.
  • Monitor compliance with warehouse SOPs and address non-compliance promptly, escalating repeated or serious breaches through the appropriate management channels.
  • Ensure workers and other relevant personnel are properly oriented on the procedures applicable to their work.
  • Identify recurring process gaps, inefficiencies and control weaknesses, and implement practical corrective actions.
  • Maintain documented workflows, checklists and control measures that support consistency, accountability and audit readiness.

Systems and Reporting

  • Ensure inventory data is accurate, regularly updated, and reviewed.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad hoc warehouse reports for management.
  • Track stock balances, material movements, variances, delivery status, pending requests, and warehouse risks.
  • Lead the operational assessment, selection, configuration and implementation of an appropriate warehouse or inventory-management system, working with management, Finance, Logistics and relevant technical providers.
  • Manage the transition from the existing advanced Excel-based system to a more automated inventory platform while ensuring data integrity, user adoption, appropriate access controls and continuity of warehouse operations.
  • Develop and maintain accurate master data, stock codes, item descriptions, units of measure, storage locations and user responsibilities within the inventory system.
  • Use warehouse data to improve stock accuracy, planning, and operational decision-making.

Project and Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate warehouse activities with project managers, logistics teams, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Work with the Logistics Manager to support timely loading, dispatch, delivery tracking, and documentation.
  • Ensure materials are available, correctly issued, and delivered to the right project or site on time.
  • Track project-related stock issues, urgent material requests, delivery challenges, and operational follow-up.
  • Maintain professional relationships with stakeholders while enforcing warehouse procedures.

Team Supervision and Leadership

  • Supervise warehouse staff and provide clear daily direction, task allocation, and follow-up.
  • Build a disciplined, organised, and accountable warehouse team.
  • Coach staff on documentation, stock handling, system use, safety, and warehouse procedures.
  • Support teamwork across warehouse, logistics, and site teams.
  • Lead by example with urgency, integrity, professionalism, and attention to accuracy.

Safety, Security and Warehouse Discipline

  • Maintain safe, clean, secure, and well-organised warehouse operations.
  • Ensure proper handling, loading, unloading, and storage of goods.
  • Protect high-value stock through secure storage, controlled access, and accurate records.
  • Monitor compliance with warehouse safety procedures and company standards.
  • Identify safety, security, and efficiency risks and recommend practical solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in construction, engineering, building materials, solar energy, infrastructure, or field-based operations, preferably in Sierra Leone. 
  • At least 7 years and minimum of 2 in management/supervisory capacity in warehouse, logistics, inventory, stores, or operations management.
  • Proven experience in stock control, inventory reconciliation, warehouse reporting, internal controls, and audit readiness.
  • Experience supervising warehouse staff and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using warehouse software, inventory systems, ERP systems, or stock control platforms.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and maintain accuracy in a busy operational environment.
