Key Purpose
APCON Enterprise (SL) LTD is working on the solar PV installation of 404 stand-alone systems across Sierra Leone.
The company is currently seeking four (4) hires for the Project Supervisor role to work at the Sierra Leone project office. The project supervisors will be responsible for all aspects of site operations, including personnel safety, overseeing daily work activities, reviewing work schedules, scheduling maintenance of equipment used, training and safety of all technicians, and frequently communicating with the technical manager, and other supportive staff. The candidate is also in charge of frequent communication with parallel-line UNOPS staff, community representatives, local stakeholders, and any concerned body regarding the site activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Coordination
- Serve as field representative of the company and as the eyes and ears of the technical manager.
- Inspect and coordinate material delivery as well as arrange for onsite material distribution.
- Follow-up tools and vehicle safety and proper usage.
- Communicate with the local community stakeholders and arrange for site entry. Also, engage with facility heads to arrange site entry and site completion notification.
- Study all necessary installation documents and guide and instruct the subcontractors.
- Follow up team efficiency of the subcontractors.
- Inspect all installations by sub-contractors and their team and inspect sites as directed by the technical manager.
- Inspect, correct, or approve works in progress.
- Notifies UNOPS’s engineers of approval of sites and confirms the test and commissioning of the sites.
- Contact local offices to consider problems, resolve issues, or notify appropriate offices.
Leadership and Management
- Collect data, work order processing, and summary reports.
- Provide general supervision & development of all employees at the site.
- Use technical knowledge and experience to optimize site performance.
- Determine daily schedules and assignments for work activities, including execution.
- Manage on-site technicians, including subcontractors.
- Monitor employees’ work levels and review work performance.
- Investigate accidents and injuries and prepare reports of findings.
- Check problem sites and assist with solutions or refer to the technical manager.
- Brief technical manager on progress at various projects daily.
- Communicate daily activities to the customer through daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Provide guidance, training, and direction to subordinates, including setting site and individual goals, and performance standards and ensure they professionally conduct themselves.
- Create and complete Service Orders and Purchase Requisitions.
- Act in the long-term interest of the organization.
- Supervise testing and commissioning of the sites and ensure it is done according to the safety and installation manual of the organization.
Reporting and Documentation
- Take photos of the issue, problem, or progress when on any job site or guest issue on site. Upon return to the office, download and file photos by project and date and send the photos to the technical manager.
- Responsible for all safety aspects at the site, including Safety Walks in the field.
- Responsible for all QC activity on site, performing QC Assessments of work by Technicians.
- Report all activities to the technical manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Knowledge
- BSc in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 6+ years of experience working in solar energy installation.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Must be willing to conduct regular movement on site.
