Apart from wide range of engineering projects such as the construction and rehabilitation of schools, health care facilities, hotels, housing units, roads, bridges and culverts, BEC (SL) Ltd manufactures variety of blocks and concrete mix types at the facilities located at Sussex and Murray Town and offers rental service of the heavy earth moving equipment.
Key Purpose:
The Construction Project Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing construction projects from inception to completion in a timely and cost-effective manner. The role will ensure that all projects are executed within the budget and set timelines while meeting quality standards and legal requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Management:
- Work with the Bid Manager and Quantity Surveyor to ensure all bids submitted on behalf of BEC meet, and where possible, exceed all technical
- Define projects scope and create construction project management plans in collaboration with BEC Management and site construction
- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget
- Maintain financial discipline, anticipate and respond to changes with real-time budget tracking and reporting to ensure projects culminate within predetermined financial
- Identify and assess potential risks and develop appropriate risk management strategies to minimise or avoid impact on
- Produce project status reports for the BEC management team, clients and other stakeholders on a regular basis and as required by project plans.
- Implement quality assurance processes as per project specifications and capture any deviations or client’s requests as per contract obligations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, health and safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Stay abreast of sustainable construction and industry best practices and advancements and implement those that will enhance project efficiency and quality.
Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Lead and coordinate the work of various teams including the engineering team, site foremen, skilled and unskilled labour teams, contractors etc.
- Set clear KPIs for teams, track and measure progress to optimise performance, reduce waste and deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, community members, regulatory bodies and other relevant stakeholders throughout the project cycle.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication among team members and community.
Education and Knowledge
- 5+ years of proven experience in construction project management related to construction of infrastructure projects and similar.
- Bachelor’s/MSc degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or any other related certification is an asset.
- Proficiency in project management software is desirable.
- Proven financial management and budgeting knowledge.
