Description

One Girl is currently looking for a Program & Partnerships Director to join their team and support their mission of empowering girls through education. They are seeking a candidate who is passionate, energetic, and proactive, and who enjoys interacting with a diverse range of stakeholders. The ideal candidate should also be committed to program quality and impact and have a deep dedication to girls’ education.

 

Key Purpose

The Director of Program & Partnerships at One Girl is responsible for overseeing the smooth operational management of programs in Sierra Leone, to positively impact the lives of girls and young women in Sierra Leone. 

The role involves ensuring that program objectives are aligned with One Girl’s strategy, designed, delivered, and evaluated effectively.

The Director is responsible for implementing high-quality girl-led programs, reporting on the program outcomes and impact and to ensure that program information is communicated effectively to external stakeholders. This role will work closely with the Director of Fundraising and Campaigns.

 

Specific Responsibilities

 

Management

  • Lead One Girls’ program portfolio by providing oversight and leadership in program strategic design, implementation, and management. 
  • Ensure that the program team has clear and agreed-upon performance goals and that key programs are executed in a timely and efficient manner to an exceptional standard.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and support for the program team’s career objectives and succession planning.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with project contractual requirements, donor agreements, and expectations. 

 

M&E

  • Lead in designing programs, monitoring progress, evaluating results, and creating reports to ensure that lessons learned are incorporated and feedback continuously improves quality systems.
  • Oversee the data collection processes and ensure that data is collected ethically and in compliance with One Girl’s ethical storytelling policy.
  • Analyse data and generate insightful reports that can be used to improve decision-making processes and enhance program effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities for ongoing learning, improvement, and growth of One Girl’s program quality and impact in line with our feminist values and principles.

 

Resourcing and Reporting

  • Prepare high-quality reports for management, board, donors, and other submissions in collaboration with the program team and partners as required. 
  • Ensure clear communication of program outcomes and impact, especially to the fundraising team, for organisational reporting purposes and donor engagement.
  • Lead on proposal development for program grants (and others as needed) and identify new funding opportunities to diversify One Girl’s funding base.

 

Partnerships

  • Develop and maintain strong external partnerships with key stakeholders, including – staff, partners, government, and other agencies crucial to the country program’s sustainability.
  • Conduct horizon scans, stakeholder mapping/analysis complete due diligence and capacity and capability assessments to identify potential partnership opportunities. 

 

Operations and Finance

  • Providing clear direction and effective leadership to the Sierra Leone Country Office with a focus on ensuring programme output, outcomes and impact are met.
  • Manage and oversee people, policies and procedures. 
  • Develop and oversee, in close collaboration with finance lead, annual programme plans, budgets and forecasting reports. 

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of post-graduate qualifications in international development or a related field is required, along with a demonstrated understanding of the international aid sector.
  • Demonstrated experience of at least three to five years in the international development and/or humanitarian sectors, with a preference for gender equality or education.
  • Minimum five years of program management experience, with demonstrated technical skills in program development, planning, implementation, and evaluative processes for program learning and policy development.
  • At least five years of experience in designing and implementing M&E frameworks and using diverse M&E methods, tools, processes, and systems for research and/or evaluation purposes.
  • Proven ability to scope, broker, and manage partnerships, and demonstrated capability to distil complex ideas to a wide range of audiences.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience within the funding landscape in Sierra Leone.

 

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and manage multiple time-sensitive tasks.
  • Proficient in using various online platforms and quick to learn new ones.  Advanced competency in platforms such as G Suite and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead a team in alignment with organizational values and capabilities.
  • Excellent people management skills, with the ability to motivate the highly skilled professionals within the team and maintain a clear sense of priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English. Exceptional writing and editing skills, with experience writing for a variety of audiences.
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgeting and financial management of the program portfolio.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and manage complex and diverse stakeholder relationships, and develop harmonious connections.
