Key Purpose:

The French Teacher will be a professional who teaches pupils how to speak and write French based on national curriculum guidelines, develop lesson plans, monitor the progress of the pupils, and provide helpful feedback for improvement.

 

Duties:

  • Plan and prepare well-structured, clearly presented teaching materials and teaching aids appropriate to the abilities of all students and the curriculum within the policies and procedures of the School.
  • Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods, and make relevant changes to planning and teaching as appropriate.
  • Organizing conversational classes and fun events where students can engage with French culture.
  • Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
  • Participate in subject meetings to discuss policy, practice, and implementation of the French curriculum.
  • Promote high standards of behavior by encouraging a positive, proactive approach to study and build productive relationships with students.
  • Write up reports of fixtures to be used in the Newsletter as well as other publications and notice boards.
  • Ensure effective teaching of whole classes, groups, and individuals so that teaching objectives are met.
  • Ensure safe learning environment for all pupils.

       

Educational and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in French language.
  • Degree in education or a teaching certificate may be required.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with pupils.
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet pupils’ needs
  • A good knowledge of the national curriculum for French and of educational practice.
  • A positive and solution-focused attitude to work.
