Key Purpose
APCON Enterprise (SL) LTD is working on the solar PV installation of 404 stand-alone systems across Sierra Leone.
The company is currently seeking a Fleet and Logistics Coordinator to work at the Sierra Leone project office. The Fleet and Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for satisfying the need for vehicles for the seamless operation of the project, monitoring the company’s vehicle movement, evaluating vehicle performance, and controlling mileage, maintenance, repair, and fuel consumption.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor Company vehicle movements through GPS (vehicle tracking system) and submit reports to the P&L Manager.
- Organize and manage the maintenance and repair of the fleet to ensure vehicles are operational and safe.
- Monitor and track vehicle usage, including fuel consumption, mileage, and location.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle inventory, maintenance, and repair logs (Maintaining history card).
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures related to fleet management.
- Address and resolve any issues or complaints regarding the vehicles or drivers.
- Perform periodic vehicle inspections to ensure that they are in good working order.
- Coordinate with management to develop and implement policies and procedures related to fleet management.
- Monitor and analyse fleet data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare reports related to fleet operations and present them to management.
- Schedule and oversee regular maintenance and repairs of fleet vehicles to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
- Coordinate vehicle assignments to drivers based on availability, route requirements, and driver qualifications.
- Manage fleet fuel consumption and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve fuel efficiency.
- Track and analyse fleet usage data to optimize fleet size and composition, recommending purchases or disposals of vehicles as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding vehicle operation and maintenance, including obtaining necessary permits and licenses.
- Handle insurance claims and liaise with insurance providers for fleet vehicles, ensuring all documentation is accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
- Develop and implement driver training programs focusing on safety, fuel efficiency, and proper vehicle handling.
- Investigate and report on incidents involving fleet vehicles, including accidents and breakdowns, to identify causes and prevent future occurrences.
- Fulfill company’s vehicle requirement by renting as needed and administering rental vehicle contract
- Monitor and manage vehicle spare parts inventory.
- Initiate and collaborate with the P&L Manager in budgeting and procuring vehicle spare parts, and fuel.
- Ensure all company procedures and protocols regarding vehicle and logistics management are followed to the latter.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field.
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience and 3+ years of experience in logistics and fleet management.
- Must have 5+ years of driving experience.
- Must be computer literate.
