Key Purpose

APCON Enterprise (SL) LTD is working on the solar PV installation of 404 stand-alone systems across Sierra Leone.

The company is currently seeking an Accounts and Admin Assistant at the Sierra Leone project office. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records throughout the year, reconciling bank statements, and managing local spending and expenses, including documenting all financial transactions by recording account information. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial reports promptly.
  • Assure accounting integrity of corporate financial data through the implementation of appropriate internal controls.
  • Ensure tax compliance with the corresponding government offices.
  • Independently prepares schedules and journal entries.
  • Provide accurate and timely budget reports to aid in decision-making and to enhance individual department efficiency and planning.
  • Assist internal line managers with solving budget-related problems.
  • Coordinate the collection of data and the development of the annual Revenue, Capital, and O&M budgets. This includes maintenance and documentation of the budget detail data and systems as well as developing and executing the approved budget schedules.
  • Consult with management to develop reports for management, outside auditors, and other internal or external customers.
  • Perform ongoing evaluation of the budget data through comparison of budget versus actual data. 
  • Follow up and control per diem of the field workers and office workers
  • Keep petty cash and manage replenishing.
  • Ensure there is asset control and register updating.
  • Establish continuous communication with other departments to develop efficient reports and/or accurate data.
  • With the help of management, ensure statutory & legal compliance with existing governmental, labour, and legal requirements.
  • Develop and control the departmental budget for Finance & Admin.
  • Perform general office duties such as ordering supplies, maintaining records management systems, and performing basic bookkeeping work.
  • Organize travel by booking tickets and reservation needs if required.
  • Coordinate events when needed while collaborating with the corresponding manager.
  • Manage filing system and office record-keeping.
  • Pick up office calls welcoming guests and facilitating their refreshments.
  • Any other duties as reasonably assigned.

 

Education and Knowledge

  • BA in Accounting/Management or related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures.
  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.
