We are seeking a dynamic and people-driven People and Learning Advisor to join our team in
Freetown, Sierra Leone. This role is ideal for individuals with strong facilitation, coaching, programme
design, or organisational development experience—regardless of whether they come from a traditional
HR background.
The Advisor will lead the design and delivery of talent development initiatives, support the development of
people-centred strategies for clients, and contribute to impactful career and education programmes. We

Key Purpose
- Training and Development
- Designing, Planning, developing, organizing, and facilitating various talent management activities such as orientations, retreats, workshops, corporate learning and training sessions, learning forums, etc. aligned with client needs.
- Manage training and development requirements within Afriqia.
- Evaluate the impact of training sessions and ensure continuous improvement of learning
initiatives.
2. People Centred Strategy and Development Advisory
- Support organisations to design and implement people-focused strategies that promote learning, engagement, inclusion, and growth—spanning areas such as performance, retention, succession, and wellbeing.
- Conduct assessments and provide insight-driven recommendations that help organisations strengthen their culture, leadership, and development pathways.
- Contribute to the design and rollout of people-related systems and policies that reflect an organisation’s values and support its goals, whether through structured HR processes or innovative people practices.
- Collaborate on initiatives that promote safeguarding, care, and accountability across all levels of an organisation.
3. Career Advisory and Further Education Programme Management
- Oversee or support the planning, coordination, and execution of career development and education support activities that equip students and young professionals with the tools, networks and confidence to succeed.
- Engage with students, institutions, and partners to ensure inclusive, high impact programme delivery.
- Maintain accurate records, communication flows, and reporting related to such activities.
4. Reporting and Quality Assurance
- Generate qualitative and quantitative reports for all interventions.
- Ensure quality and consistency across all talent development initiatives.
- Contribute to documenting processes, outcomes, and impact assessments.
- Work collaboratively with clients, internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment, relevance and continuous improvement of all interventions.
5. Other Duties
- Perform any other related duties as may be allocated by the supervisor or management team in
line with the role.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Human Resource Management, Organisational Development, Education, Psychology, Business Administration, or other related social sciences.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in talent development, training, people-focused strategy, or HR advisory — including experience in facilitation, programme design, or learning interventions.
- Proven ability to manage projects, deliver reports, and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience designing and delivering high-impact learning events, such as workshops, retreats, or
organisational development sessions.
We welcome candidates with transferable experience from sectors such as education, nonprofit
management, consulting, or leadership coaching, especially those focused on people and growth.
Skills
- Strong facilitation and instructional design capabilities, with a flair for engaging diverse audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to think critically, analyse feedback and learning data, and translate insights into action.
- Comfort with digital tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and online learning platforms.
- Familiarity with people development systems such as HRMS, performance management tools, or
career development platforms is a plus.
Desirable Attributes:
- Proactive, reflective, and adaptable, with a consultative mindset.
- Able to thrive in dynamic, client-facing environments and manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with Sierra Leone’s organisational or HR landscape is an advantage, but not a requirement.
